I would wait til after the fest, ask people what their faves were, then book a regular dinner. the service is rarely up to par during summerlicious, which can really turn the whole experience into a disappointment.

As much as it pains me to say this but I do agree with Sarah. As I said in my post I have never really enjoyed my times at either Summerlicious or Winterlicious. Too crowded, service bad, food not really a good sample of what you would get off the regular menu.

As I also said earlier a lot of people do enjoy this so I just might be too old and cynical.

that's really strange because i have never had a bad experience with the food and service at winterlicious or summerlicious. love both of these times. don't really understand the complaints.

i think it has to do with the fact that i rarely go to fancy restaurants other than these times so it's a treat every half year.

i like cooking at home and eating at home so spending ridiculous amounts on ridiculous things just doesn't appeal to me at all.

Same on all accounts. Plus I think I am a bit forgiving for poor (not bad) service because of expected conditions. As long as I get my meal, when it is still hot, and it tastes good, them I'm a happy camper.

I have had experiences where it's not hot, and it doesn't taste good, or both. Don't get me wrong, I've also had some great winterlicious meals...but unless you're going to a top top restaurant that you've specifically heard can do it right, then you stand to be disappointed. Many newer, smaller places that need winterlicious as a means of promotion are not used to handling the volume. I've had a few meals at both summer and winter licious' and it is so blatantly obvious that the staff had no idea what they were signing up for. When you end up spending a fair bit anyways (because who goes out for a nice dinner and doesn't order a bottle of wine with it) it is frustrating to not get the best service.

Last year I had a great experience at Opal Jazz on Queen but I believe it's closed now.

they started taking reservations for non american express card holders today at 10am....I called at about 10:10am and was told I took the very last winterlicious dinner reservation at Canoe....I'm interested to see what the hype is about but my expectations are not that high...
