Hooray for slicks!!!
I'm willing to give all of the new regs a chance, except for stupid KERS. I think that they will all enhance the racing.
The giant front wing will solve the understeer issues that plagued past seasons when drivers complained they couldn't get close enough. They look stupid. But hey, if they work, I'm all for it.
Slicks, there's no logical argument against them. The argument before against them (cars are too fast) is stupid because these are racing cars designed to go fast. They only served to reduce the grip and lead to lack of passing.
Kers? Stupid. Any trickledown in technology won't find it'sway into road cars for decades and not in it's racing form. Compare this to racing innovations of the past (disc brakes, anti-lock brakes, DSG gearboxes - Porsche 964 Group C car!!, traction control etc etc) and I just can't see the link especially when they're looking to cut costs. Why add cost & complexity when you're loking to cut costs?!?! Bernie and Max are both senile, as proven by Bernie and his olympic medals plan for finishing places.
All in all, I think it will be an exciting season for several reasons. We have no idea who will "get it right" and then, who will get KERS "right" once teams start to introduce it.
hell, I don't even know who I'm cheering for yet? I really want to see BMW successful.
