From my layman point of view the Trance DJ'S like TIESTO are the most famous DJ's in the world or should I say - have been.

PvD Too, his vonyc sessions are, gently speaking, asswhipe compared to the stuff that he played ~5 years ago. its the same with every other big shot dj

clubs - same thing: cheap music + tons of fcuks with no sense for music whatsoever = profit.

Sebastien Leger makes great electro house, so i wouldn't say it's completely unlistenable.

trance circa 98-03 yes.

electro house - No. Progressive house yes.

sebastien leger, deadmau, prydz, angello, ingrosso - all produce/play quality prog house.

jaques lu cont could be classed as electro house.. he is good.

almost

when the superstar dj phase began, trance dominated everything.

this is like comparing aids vs cancer.

it will be interesting to see how trance goes in the supposed recession/depression, especially if the recession goes for a long time.

Maybe Trance might be soothing. hey hey

Agree. The long break down is definitely one of the most detrimental and over used aspects of trance IMO. Trance is very accessible compared to many other genres but the long break downs bore the hell out of people on the dance floors.

exactly... trance being the most melodic, is the easiest to crossover to the majority of the public and EDM noob community, but most of them wont get the whole long breakdown, where they just end up standing around wondering what to do... takes a really charismatic DJ to encourage the whole 'hands in the air' and then 'clapping' towards the buildup to get the crowd going...

Are you alluding to the fact that trance needs a government bailout?

Let's write up a Give Trance a Chance bill.

Exactly, but even that grows old after 3 tracks and then you have the same lengthy breakdowns in EVERY track of the set to look forward to
