Theres a techno guy in sydney who does live vocoder and synth over tracks. I never realised before I saw him that you can keep it dairly informal and unrehearsed and just screw around. It doesn't have to be fully live...

playing live is mostly about trigering parts and adjusting parametres instead of automation really, not actually playing them. i cant do it with my songs so far but i hope ill be able to in a year or two.

can you explain that lil more in layman's terms plz? so one is not able to play keyboard live? thanks.

someone might be able to but thats not very common when it comes to edm. they usualy have the midi in ready in ableton (or something else good at looping) and just trigger it whenever they want, the rest is just turning knobs. which is what is fun anyway.

Mic Doney. He often plays his own productions off ableton while using a keyboard and vocoder to add bits and pieces. Not really sure how much of the stuff in ableton is being mixed on the fly, but it sounds really good.

I saw him do a back to back CDJ set where he was messing around on the keyboard all the time, it went down really well.
