Damn, his set was that bad?

I knew it wasn't going to be that great since no one hyped up the OC set.

good going on taking bscarbro's advice.

maybe ideal can give an "unbiased" review of the set, even though he promotes at spin. if indeed it was weak, im glad you didnt take his advice to go see "angello hands down"

Yes, actually it was. While his tracks were alright I can honestly say the last time I saw him he was a lot better. He did the huge draws to hype tracks but either kept them too long or always dropped something a bar later than it should have been so it just sounded off.

There was a few cool things, but in the end I'd say the set was mediocre at best when the expectations were taken into consideration. I have to say that I was disappointed because I know from past shows he can play much better. He seemed either really tired or, how would you say, disconnected from what was going on and just spun whatever he felt like. (Last time I saw him with Axwell and they tore it up like hell, so I know he has it in him).

Ultimately, the easiest way for me to describe it, is that his set didn't have continuity. However the BE double mixing was pretty funny. I can't believe he dropped the chord line of Satisfaction by Benassi over Be. It could have been nuts cool, but he drew it out so long that I got lost because of it.

He has been doing the Be-Satisfaction deal for a while now, i heard it in a few of his live sets and i guess he did that for Nocturnal also.

I was leaning to Gartner the whole time, the only main thing that was holding me back for the weak sound and the hr and a half set.

Well both those issue were kind of sorted out. For one, the sound was a lot louder. They moved the dj booth from the wall where a bunch of bass cabinets are so the bass was pumping in the middle of the dance floor. Also they let Gartner start around 1130ish. So he got a solid 2 hrs in which was well worth the 10 bucks to get in.

But to be honest the nail in the coffin for me were the pictures from Heat. Angello is kinda like zombied out not giving a fuck. Like he is just there to be there and not partying out and feeling the music. That to me reflected how he was going to be at Spin. He might not be like that tonight since Vanguard is in LA and a lot bigger, but still you can pretty much see he is not at 100%. Wolfgang on the other hand was...

I figured he had been doing it, but it was cool to hear that beat hit so hard out of Spin's system... until he did the mash-up for a second time and hadn't dropped anything other than the music line in the intro of Be. Cool idea, but poorly executed.

I do think you hit it on the head with the zombied out comment. He just seemed like he wasn't interested in what he was doing (maybe he okayed the BP 5 year thing as a concept and then realized its not what he expected and that's why). I'm not sure as to other reasons though, he still had elements of himself, it just... was poorly executed on his part. I honestly don't know how else to put it.

Glad you had fun at Wolfgang though. I know his productions but little about him as a DJ so it wasn't up my alley really.

Damn thanks for the heads up! Now that Steve Angello sucks I am not going to see him WMC and hit up better dj's.

I wouldnt quite ditch him for WMC yet.

Because he does through bomb sets, and when he is with Ingrosso he gets his ego boost and is in a good mood.

And once the Sweeds are all together, its a night to remember!

Yeah i can see a biggggg difference in the pics.

He is actually smiling in the pictures and getting into the music.

You can tell he is still zombied out, but he is trying to be happy for the LA crowd. I knew this was going to be the case since he wouldn't want to disappoint LA.

He didn't use headphones once that night. He was just a jukebox up there playing track after track. Darthseph is right on about the set having no continuity - perfect way to describe it.

Thanks for the props on the comment there. I honestly think you're right about the headphone comment too... I never really looked to see if he was cueing properly but it sure didn't sound like it, so you may very well be right.

The sad thing is... that's not how I've seen Steve before. He spins better but the zombie factor played a huge role. I would imagine it will be gone in WMC because of the vibe of WMC as a whole.
