I go there around 12:30 or so. Not sure who was on then, but I enjoyed the set.

Holden was pretty cool stuff. Slow and subtle progression through each track. Very melodic. Some banging ripping stuff, then the next track brings you back down (nearly stopping the dance floor).

As far as "fun party" factor, not very high. The people I was with hadn't heard any of his sets and were more looking for a fun night which Holden didn't really deliver.

As far as neat track selection, melody, flow/progression through each track, very high. I don't frequently follow a set right through (minus washroom breaks) but I really enjoyed Holden's journey.

I was at least smiling on the inside throughout the set, if not on the outside. Legs were tired when I left, and this morning. I'd definitely see him again.

The vibe in Footwork was great as usual. The more I visit that place, the deeper my appreciation for it becomes. The biggest plus is naturally the people - both patrons and staff. Everyone's happy to be there, happy to be listening to great tunes. Generally people aren't pushy, and many even smile when they look back at you after being tapped on the back as you excuse yourself past. Undeniably one of Toronto's finest hidden treasures.

Left Footy at three thirty as I was satisfied with my weely house fill. Always good to end the evening on a high note.

It still blows me away everytime i listen to it.

As for the FW's gig, i really feel Holden was burnt out from Montreal (igloofest & Cirus afterhours events the day/night prior to Toronto's gig)

Not surprise he wasn't up to spinning a WOW! set

See you in Barcelona in Summer 09'... Mr. Holden

That would definitely be a rough schedule... too bad I didn't manage to catch the montreal gig. Bleh.

I loved Holden's set. I haven't been that impressed in a very long time.

Simply brillant programming, a smooth transition encompassing techy melodies, wobbly basslines and proggy elements throughout. I simply adored how he deftly moved into a slower deliberate pace midway through his set, again proving that it doesn't have to be hard to keep the dancefloor packed.

It was impressive to see how his style has matured, previously I'd say he'd always have moments of quirky tunes that didn't always translate to the dancefloor. This time, the quirkiness was still there but it was also the most dance-friendly set I've seen him do.

Uh.. hes a dj. They do it all the time. I think he should be used to his schedule and play his best everytime. You don't hear Toronto Residents saying.. oh well.. I played guv all night and now I have to play a 4 hour set at CZ.. so uh.. I'm going to half ass it because I'm tired. Nopers.

Lame excuse.

You know, there are loads of DJs that play a few nights in a row and do long gigs, it's part of the job.

That said, snagged the Igloo fest, and well - sounds like I didn't miss much, skimming through the set had me cringing more than once, not my cup-o-tea. Glad I went to check out Sammy Dee and Frivolous last weekend instead.

IMO - Holden is a good producer, and a real hit & miss DJ. Just because you know how to build a song, doesn't mean you know how to build a set.
