When I was in my early teens I went on a pushup drive. I was in Royal Marines CCF (I suspect only Brits here will know what that is) and was taught by one of the Marines who would come in each week to make sure I was doing them right. I worked my way up to 300 per day over a couple of months and made sure I did them every day, if I missed a day I'd go 600 the next. I went psycho about it but beefed up pretty quickly. I used to do 75 then take a 15 second break, the another 75 until I was done. After a few months I started timing myself to add another element to it. Got down to 300 pressups in less than 6mins at one stage.
I still couldn't beat my mother at arm wrestling.*
*Not that she was a big arm wrestler or we arm wrestled much. I just concentrated the work on those arm muscles so much and neglected the rest of my puny body! |
aha your story made me laugh a bit,im getting to that mode right now where i can do almost a hundren in a minute, practice really does pay off.
