You figure playing the same tracks over and over and over, he would be able to make a decent transition that lasted more than 20 seconds.

You really don't like him eh?

Obviously Väth isn't playing the same set over and over again for a whole year but it's definitely clear that he still plays a lot of older tunes during the winter months when he's touring with his new 'Sound Of The ... Season'. Besides, the stuff that leaks on the internet are often only substracts from a longer set OR sets at bigger venues (which also explains the tune selection).

And, again, he really can make a decent transition that lasts longer than 20 seconds.

no no no...i enjoyed the parties he has played that i attended at a lot..but let be real here, he is more of a sideshow than being anything near one of the better dj's of his style. He gets major longevity points and the electrica salsa video always makes me lulz.

when someone mentions sven, the first thing that gets talked about is making out with richie hawtin, or the time he got his ass kicked by a bouncer for taking a shit in the middle of a club...not his ability.

please do not sit here and tell me he is very technical.

see the thing is, ill ask you or any other techno expert who is better, and you will give me an example that is way too repetitive and boring and only the techno connaiseur will enjoy. another problem is dj scenesters equate skill and ability with how long a dj can hold a mix. that's the problem with kids these days, they think its all about the beatmatching. wanna see ability? try keeping a floor moving for hours on end. its a lost art, the art of actual DJ'ing that is. you can take your 1min+ long mixes and shuv it, ill take an actual dj please thank you.

i responded before you edit ...

no theres definitely those that can do both, but its really not needed a lot of times. you can definitely overdo the beatmatching thing and bore the dancefloor to death. but to say a dj is not talented just because he has short mixes is wrong. he just has a different mixing style than most. btw he does actually do very long mixes too, he doesn't just do one type of mix, most people just like to foxus on and point out the short transitions as a source of criticism.
