Right, .m4a is AAC (based on MPEG4), which has the capability to store the cue points and track art.
But a podcast doesn't HAVE to be .m4a, it can be .mp3, or even video. It's just a term apple came up with that sounds better than "RSS audio/video feeds for your iPod"
