OR be an adventurous indiana jones style clubber and do what edparks suggests which is what i did which is sleep on south beach on a blanket. yes being fucked with by bums while you sleep is a possibility, if you're sleeping there at night (happened to me).

i recommend taking your pill at around 10pm, stay till club closes at 5am, then watch the sunrise on the beach with your gurly as your pill wears off and you fall asleep and wake up sometime in the afternoon. (wear sunscreen or get some shade). OR option B, at 5am take taxi to club space terrace for 5am-? (however long you can handle it), then sleep on beach while getting a tan. btw being from chicago, your skin is most likely whiter than the divine holy spirit, the thickest sunblock will only work for so long, the sun in miami is the most intense sun you will ever experience, it is seriously fucking briiiight and cookin. so really spackle that shit on. that sun down there is no joke.

the only problem with sleeping on the beach is, that's all it is, a place to sleep. I quickly discovered doing this causes you to be really smelly and greasy and dirty by the 2nd or 3rd day being down there. that's the problem is finding a shower. i made friends with someone at the club and offered them money to use their shower.

Thanks a lot man. I'm white as a ghost naturally, so yeah... the sun will kill me. Don't think I'll be takin off my shirt. But what's the weather like? By end of march will it be like 80? Shouldnt be TOO bad, right?

Also, what's a good town to get a cheap hotel in? I don't want to be checkin prices of nearby places and end up getting a hotel in some really ghetto run-down "don't walk arond at night" area. Like I'm looking at places now and I'm seeing names like "Hialeah" and "Opa-Locka" and places right off 826 and stuff. How are those neighborhoods? Or will places even close be just as cheap (roughy)? And one more question... say I take my car and we get a hotel where I can park at. Should I commute to Miami somehow or will there be places in the general area I can drive to and park my car free or cheap? I really have no concept of how the WMC is going to be laid out or how close the different clubs are to each other. Walking distance to everything or will it be a drive to get from place to place?

You guys are bein really helpful... I appreciate it a TON!

Go check out the WMC forum. Go into my events thread and scroll to the bottom and find Jason's Google map that he did. That will tell you exactly now close/far some of the clubs are. Decide what day(s) you want to come down and figure out what DJs you want to see and go from there. You almost have to go to South Beach once just to see it (I assume you have never been to Miami before?)

As far as hotels, I don't know what neighborhoods are good or bad but I'd say be ready to spend $80 on a hotel that's half way decent.

If you're REALLY lucky you can find some on SoBe for $100/night. Otherwise check the big chain hotels near downtown/airport.

As far as WMC layout... the beach clubs are mostly within a 1 mile radius. The downtown clubs are also within a 1 mile radius, but it's much shadier walking around there.

Like I said in the first paragraph, figure out who you want to see and go from there.

Re: passing out on the beach

People might fuck with you but during WMC there will be all kinds of partyers on the beach. I would just leave your valuables in the car. Most of the parking garages on the beach are pretty safe, but they will run you $15+ to park for the night.

Remember too that the downtown clubs run ALL night. IF you're into partying late you can party until the sun comes up and beyond. Then hop in your car and drive back to Clearwater. I've done it a handful of times and it's rough but totally worth it.

Hey thanks for all the info man. I've been checking the maps, looking around at hotels, and sort of getting an idea of where all the clubs are. Doesn't look like I should be so picky with my money. On the otherhand, I was checking the "tickets" for the clubs on some page I think I found through the WMC Events thread, and is it true that its going to cost $50 bucks to get into each club? And is it recommended to buy your tickets beforehand or will I be able to just walk up to a party and get in right there with no problems of it being "too packed or sold out" or whatnot? I've never heard that was the case but maybe it would be for the WMC?? Thanks again mate.

The price of events will range from free to $100. Obviously the bigger names will cost more. If you want to see the big names I'd recommend presales.

I personally think going to the popular events is a pain in the ass. Most of them are packed to the brim and it's just not worth it IMO.

What parties are you thinking about going to?

Well, I think i'd head up there Thursday. If I get there early enough I'd wanna check out

3/26/09: Juicy Beach w/ Robbie Rivera, James Zabiela, Axwell, Antoine Clamaran, Tocadisco, Joachim Garraud, Kaskade, Alex Gaudino, Donald Glaude @ Nikki Beach

But as for Thursday night, these look good:

3/26/09: Hernan Cattaneo, Darren Emerson @ Shine
3/26/09: Sasha, John Digweed, Guy J @ Mansion {probably extremely packed}
3/26/09: Viva vs. Cadenza w/ Steve Lawler, Luciano, Timo Maas, Tiefshwarz, Bearweasel, Mirko Loko, Reboot @ Space Terrace flyer
{isn't space terrace really expensive though?}
3/26/09: Markus Schulz, Menno de Jong, Cosmic Gate, Gareth Emery, Blake Jarrell @ Parkwest
{not because of schulz though}
3/26/09: Drumcode w/ Adam Beyer, Paul Ritch (live), Christian Smith, Joel Mull, Alexi Delano, Cari Lekebusch @ Glass

Honestly a lot of those other guys I've never heard of, but I'd mainly be looking for something like bumpin prog house and some techno.

Shine is pretty decent spot. You can walk outside by the pool and relax in the ocean breeze.

Nikki Beach will be packed like sardines and expensive, but it is a fun venue. One of the only true outdoor venues.

DO NOT BOTHER WITH MANSION unless you like overpaying for drinks and a crowd who could give two shits about good music.

The Space terrace is an amazing place and IMO that party will be of the best of WMC. Get there early... let's say by midnight for sure. The terrace is one of a kind. Most people's favorite venue in Miami. Great sound, outdoor vibe, and that lineup is unreal. Prices shouldn't be unreasonable, especially compared to Mansion, Cameo, LIV, Prive, Mokai, Mynt. Another plus is that the terrace will be open until 2-3pm. You get a lot of value if you can stick it out that long.

The Drumcode party will be in your face techno I'm sure of that. If that's a sound you're into then go for it. I believe Glass is on the beach which means it closes at 5.

Friday/Saturday night is a whole nother ballgame.

There are some places in Clearwater that are fun at night. Sheppards on clw beach and just about any of the hotel bars.

The problem is they've completely gutted driving out there and parking while there.
