i have a love/hate relationship with smoking in clubs. I like the ambience on one hand, but it really fucks up my upper respiratory system , especially when you're partying in a basement or low ceiling warehouse or something.
+1
It also makes me get tired faster, that + the heat really affect my stamina at warehousers/undergrounds.
When I cam back from San Francisco b2b weekend undergrounds in February, all of my clothes smelled like cigarettes, even my fucking underwear.
The Dj should always be allowed to light up though.

I wish they'd bring back smoking in glasgow clubs. I don't smoke myself, but it sure beats the smell of dried in beer and sweat..
lol There was article on RA about this same thing in England. When they banned smoking clubs no longer smelled like smoke, they smelled like wet, sweaty brits

yeah here too. but the worst thing about smoking is not the smell, it really burns in my eyes. that sounds like a sissy complaint but it really starts to hurt if there is no air condition or something like that and i think im not the only person with that problem.
the other things are okay, at least you can get some sleep if youre really exhausted

Eh he used to get high and maybe still does so I doubt he's a hardass.

Yea and I blink a lot as a result, or maybe it's just the drugs in me

I think what bas meant is that he's not incapable of opening a can of whoop-ass despite his mild mannered demeanor.

This. Also, just because you occasionally get high doesn't mean you're not a hardass.

story from discogs:
quote:
Three hours ago he had caught the last train after a gig in Leipzig, heading for his set in Berlin the very same night. But Dettmann missed to get off – and suddenly has found himself stuck at dead end Hamburg main station: no trains till morning, no one to call for a ride. Promptly – and without any hesitation about the ridiculous charge – he hires a cab, having only one thing in mind: Berlin, Berghain, the Club …
what do you think?
edit: for those who dont know thats 289km in a cab

not more than anyone else though. he just seems like a really lucky music nerd with crackhead friends, and probably a crackhead himself.

I was lucky enough to see the guy play a few weeks back in Minneapolis. Crackhead... doubt it. Our promoters here had the nerve to give him a PBR when he asked for a beer. He did chain smoke cigs and play the afterparty for free. So maybe he's got a bit of crackhead in him. Hard ass, definitely not.
Oh did I mention he was playing mid 90's techno rippers and closed with Radiohead. Dude can definitely play music.
