rereading your reply from before, i have to set the record straight. as a new jersey devils fan, im sick of people not giving us the credit we deserve. we won 3 stanley cup championships in a matter of 6 years.
still, idiot rangers fans and loads of other people last year would say stuff like "without brodeur the devils are just a mid-table, satisfactory team." critics pound it into ours and other hockey fan's heads so much that we begin to believe it.
brodeur was out for 4 months and we proved that theory wrong.
now, brodeur is breaking NHL records and people are saying "no he's not the greatest, he was lucky he had an amazing defense in front of him." i'm not gunna buy that load of crap. stevens retired half a decade ago, as did daneyko. we haven't had a good defense since our last stanley cup win.
i'm not gunna stand aside and listen to people say he's good because of his defense, or the devils are only good because of brodeur. i have news for you. no goalie wins stanley cups or breaks records without a good team in front of him, so take that argument and throw it out the window. as a devils fan, i'm sick of people throwing our accomplishments down to the clearance rack.
brodeur proved last night he is now to be regarded as the best goalie of all time. he's breaking records, he's a good in new jersey, and well-respected all over the NHL. period.
