- Corporations that have internal applications that /only/ work in IE
- Many web-users that cant be bothered to download 3rd party browsers and just click on "accept updates" from Microsoft

IE still has a big market share and I don't see it going away any time soon. Like most other Microsoft Apps, IE will always have it's place in a business setting for a long time.

Some sites, it won't generate the full page, and you gotta click on the compatibility broken page icon next to the address bar to regenerate the page.

I'm not happy so far.

actually that popup is very annoying, when you have to search stuff on many pages, it goes away everytime

That's hardly surprising, considering that half the internet relied on the older, broken IE6/IE7 functionality. The farther along Microsoft gets toward conforming to standards (and that's what IE8 was really all about), the more stuff is going to break.

It's really no different from Windows itself. With every new version, a bunch of old apps break. The difference is, there are a (relatively) small number of Windows apps that they can just shim. Good luck doing that on the web.

I personally will not be upgrading to IE8 yet - but it's not because of Microsoft, it's because of all of the millions of broken sites made by "teach yourself ASP.NET in 28 days" web devs. And although I'm glad it finally passes Acid2, in the end it's just more work for people like me - IE7 and IE6 are still out there so it's yet ANOTHER browser I have to test on.

so I downloaded it yest. tried it out for a bit, and I went to a page with heavy Flash content, it froze on me. I left it there for a bit to give it the benefit of the doubt in hopes that it would refresh on it's own, but instead, it crashed my computer. I haven't had that happenin who knows how long. I've reverted back to IE7 for now...until all the kinks have been ironed out.

Been on the beta since it was first available. Considerably faster than IE7, fairly stable thus far.

Beta 1 was choppy, Beta 2 was EXCELLENT.. Once it hit RC status everything went to shit though. Now that it's finally in release stage, it's MILES more stable than it was in RC.
