Well, I was still slightly interested after reading the reviews, but after watching a few videos I know I wouldn't like it. Max payne is pretty much the only 3rd person shooter that's really done it for me.
I didn't mean this game in particular, just in general. I started to try out games with ratings of 5, 6, 7's (or equivalent) and ended up finding some great games that appealed to my tastes.

It's amazing how many games the general game media thinks are 'mediocre' I end up liking a lot. Heavenly Sword on the PS3 was largely overlooked, but I friggin loved it. I thought it was intense as all hell. And I actually liked the Minority Report game on Xbox, I played the shit out of that when I rented it.

I quite enjoyed Dark Sector personally but that said I wouldn't rate it above 7/10 at best - not essential by any means. Bought cheap though it's a decent-looking game and using the glaive that you can power up with various elements like fire and ice is pretty fun.
