I sometimes add compression to sampled kicks whether theyve been compressed or not, just enough to give it some punch and bite, like Anthony says, your ears are the best guideline here

Everytime I apply compression on those Vengeance trance/clubby kicks , it gets really distorted sounding. The samples are already compressed , so i dont think there is a need to do it again.

Re: Compression on the kick and the bass

Message to original poster and everybody else who's interested:

I know of a good online video tutorial made by a pro where he shows you how he constructs a song in his sequencer and he simply shows you the comp settings he makes.. that's the easiest way to learn it.

However I am a bit tired of people not helping me out when I do a request, so I've made a request here: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...8&forumid=48&s= If you can help me, post a reply there or send me a private message and I will give you the link to the video if you want it.

Don't get me wrong, but I only want to help people who also want to help me.

PS: couldn't download your file at filefactory.. use rapidshare instead for uploading files!

That's a pretty selfish attitude man, that's not the way to go on in life

Not 100% sure about that, i like to layer three of them together and compress and eq as needed, but i feel like with the release of vec3 they really took care of the sample quality in terms of kicks.

Sometimes you just need to chill out and wait, as well as get your name out a little more in other topics for people to be inclined to help.

lol, your asking people to break the law on a public forum. That's why no-one replies.

Whether you download one loop or the whole CD you're breaking the law. Will a supermarket let you off with stealing one olive from a jar-full?

Thing is that when I was on this forum like 4 years ago, people were alot more helpful and helped when somebody made a request for something. Now people already critize you when you ask for some drumloops.. as I mentioned in my post, right now i simply don't have the money to buy new stuff, therefore my little request.. gimme a break ok.

Anyway, if somebody still wants to know more about the video tutorial or just wants to help, go to my thread here: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...8&forumid=48&s= and send me a pm

Best Service House Definition volume 1. Most of my kicks come from there (or sampled from other tracks ).

That's the way to make friends here! Anyway, you are talking about a drumloop and that you are low on cash to buy vengeance discs. You don't always need sample discs to create your percussion, there a lot of free sources on the internet to get samples. Just download a lot of singleshots and re-create that loop, you will be more satisfied after creating your own loop. Just check out this site: http://www.vipzone-samples.com/, they got loads of cool free samples.

With making music it is about creating your own unique piece of work, which can only be achieved with hard work. Asking someone else to create your loops is not the way you want to go.

Here's a tipical sample of my work, as I said on the first post the kick is a little compressed with FabFiltre Pro-C and there are 4 bass lines

1 Sub (simple sine)
1 Main (without any effect)
1 Main duplicated one octave higher and with litlle reverb and delay
1 kind of acid

all of them are equalized but not compressed, I'll aprreciate apinions on the compression for this pattern

here's the link

thanks and regards
