Had an awesome trip for the whole week. Even made it out to the Sony Erickson Open on Monday to watch some of the Qualifier matches. Just a word of caution, check your ATM card accounts! Myself and the two other people in my crew all went online this morning to find fraudulent charges of 300, 400, 500 on them. In my case it has been easy to get it handled but now my ATM card is dead and I have to get a new one. I didnt get home untill 11pm last night due to weather in FLL and traffic in LA. Will post pictures and reviews ASAP.
Parties Attended
Monday: Sony Erickson Open
Tuesday: Cant remember, did something, I know that.
Wednesday: Basic NYC at Beach Plaza, DJ Mag Party, back to Beach Plaza
Thursday: Desyn/Sander K Boat
Hernan at Shine
Friday: APT Party at Beach Plaza (Mark Farina, Chuck Love, Fred Everything, Olivier Desmet)
Amenti Label party at Love Hate (Fred Everything, Lawnchair Generals, DJ Heather, DJ Izz)
Saturday: Pool Party at the South Seas
Rooftop Ruckus at the Bentley (Desyn Maisello, Chris Fortier)
Droog/Sander K at The Setai

I had an awesome 5 days with plenty of hiccups...
thursday
Made our way to Fontainbleu for the MSTKRKRFT party only to find it over capacity. We stood around for close to an hour trying to get in to no avail. Talked to Das Glow in the lobby. Finally we figured we would try and sneak in. There had to be a way down to the pool right? We go in the hotel part, up an elevator, down another and out to the pool area.... and walk right past an older security guard like we owned the place. It was perfect. Plus free Bacardi drinks. DJ AM came on and he succcccckkkkkkkeeeeedddd. We almost left but stuck it out and MSTRKRFT played the best set i've heard from them. Then Kid Sister took over after that. We ordered so much Bacardi it was crazy. Towards the end my buddy and I were ordering 4 at a time and they were just giving them to us. Needless to say I don't remember the ride home.
After that another friend and I went to Aerobar for THE UTAH SAINTS. Starkillers and DJ Rap were there too. Fun, fun party vibe there until I got lost walking back to the condo. Walking around at 5am after partying for 11 hours = not a good thing. I got in a cab with some people but ended up no closer to where I was staying. Somehow I made it home finally. What a way to start the week.
Friday
Chilled out and went to the Scion party at Ganesvoort. Rusko was tearing the place down but then I had to leave for Ultra. Ultra was fine, left a bit early. After that was supposed to hit up Boys Noize Records night but all my friends punked out and I met up with some other friends at The Shelborne (they got me an armband) and Nick Warren and Dave Seaman were very good. I really liked that place. Like a dark basement. Called it a night around 4am.
Saturday
Ultra again, left early again and went to friends hotel to sleep from 930-midnight. Made our way to The White Room for the Fools Gold party but it was completely packed, hot and the bathrooms flooded the outside area. We left and started walking around trying to figure out where to go. Wanted to hit Lights Out but with it ending at 4 my friends wanted to pay for something else, so they got me in to Digweed at Vagabond. Music was very good, bathroom line sucked... went back to The White Room and saw Jokers of the Scene totally kill it, then DJ Craze play a hard electro-house set and then have a turntable battle with A-Trak. Freaking amazing.
Basically I got a little of everything this weekend, but I still didn't make it to the 2 events I really wanted to (Boys Noize Records night and Lights Out) because of too many friends with not enough money, trying to please everyone, etc... oh well, next year!

I had an awesome time in Miami.
PVD @ SPACE...
Had the most fun & my favorite party by far. Like everyone else said, PVD's first half rocked.
SANDER K & DESYN MASIELLO Yatch Party...
SICK, SICK SICK Yatch Party. I don't regret not going to the Sasha & Digweed party one bit. Sander's beats were simply amazing. I was really surprised to find some friends from Mexico there. Never a dull moment. Just loved it. I wish it would've kept going.
JOHN DIGWEED @ VAGABOND
I swear, some of Digger's followers need to lay off the drugs BAD!!! There were some really creepy people there doing the weirdest things. I remember some guy by the booth that seemed like he was calling on the gods or something. Than another guy showed and started dancing with him like they were doing some sort of ritual. WTF was that? LMAO
Digger's set was ok. It wasn't anything legendary but it wasn't that bad either. TBH, some parts bored me really bad. He played some massive songs, but he also played some blah songs. I remember towards the end, he played a song that sounded like a remake of Mario Piu's - The Vision. The crowd went nuts.
Vagabond is tiny and it wasn't sold out. For having a Funktion One sound, it sure didn't seem like it was. Vagabond looked old, beat down, and creepy. lol... I'm sure they darkened the place just for Digweed cuz it was DARK. It had a very underground feel to it.
Since the booth had no security, people kept going up to him and talking to him. I could tell he was getting distracted. Finally someone showed up and started kicking people off the booth.
I was recording clips from songs I liked, Digweed noticed and grabbed my camera and put it down. I was like WTF? hahahaha But it's all good. He did the same thing to another guy.
I wish I would've gone somewhere else. But oh well.
LAIDBACK LUKE @ SUPER YOU AND ME...
This was my BUZZ KILL Party of the WMC. Come on, we all have one. There was too many hip hop heads and that Louis place is your typical trendy, guestlist, bottle service, doormen only lets in whoever they want in type of place. The vibe was horrible. Diplo & A-Track killed my vibe. Specially when they played hip hop... WTF!!!! I didn't go to WMC to hear hip hop. But the vibe returned when Luke took over at 3am. But by then it was too late and most people had left. What a buzz kill.
DIRTY BIRD DAY PARTY...
Hmmm My original plan was to get there at 5pm. By then Jesse Rose would have just started. However, there were some changes to the timeslots made that Jesse Rose played at 2pm. So my friend kept saying to go really early. We show up and the place was EMPTY!!!! Jesse Rose was playing to an empty yard.
The sound system was pretty sick, but because it was at the Double Tree Hotel, they kept lowering the volume. WEAK! My friends wanted to leave and get some grub. So we did. But just as were leaving the place was getting packed. I never returned but it was looking out to be like it was going to be a really good party.
BEATPORT POOL PARTY - DAY 2
A fellow TA invited me to go, I accepted. When I got there, Laidback Luke was playing and WOW!!! Did he redeemed him self from the previous night. Luke was simply SICK!!! Way better vibe, and playing to all house heads rather than a hip hop crowd. It was a fun night.

Did you fly out of FLL on Sunday? I remember seeing a guy in a red/brown woody woodpecker shirt and I thought it might have been you.
As for buzz-kills, i hear ya. The Setai on Saturday was mine. While I must say the venue is AWESOME and a badass place to hold a party, its is EXTREMELY pretentious. $17 for a vodka/cran WTF?!?!?!?!?! There was a huge line to get upstairs to see Sander K that I didnt even bother and stayed downstairs, smoked some cigs and listened to some sick dark minimal (i think it was Droog).

I agree 100%
I was really pumped to see diggers and it was just meh.
The last time I saw him was in Montreal @ Stereo in OCT and it was insane.
Hernan had the best set for me of WMC. Too bad he played so early.
Amazing time.

Nocturnal with Circo Loco was the biggest dissapointment by far, as I didnt have tickets and had to pay an obscene amount to get in the fucking place. Overall a great time, I dont know if I will be back though, seems like its seen its better days IMO. |
why was it disappointing ?

Luckily I went straight from the Sander/Desyn boat straight to Shine so I was the first one in the door, or I too would have missed some of his set. Granted they didnt open the doors until after 11pm and he came on close to 12, but yeah suprisingly early set for him.
