do i know some examples of "minimal trance".

not really, but i guess some of the kompakt catalog could be interpreted as this to people that really feel the need to label things to be able to enjoy them.

If the track is not over produced like most trance tracks, i can't see why this could not exist. Minimalism does not mean bleeps and blops.

Man i hate genre tags sometimes.

No no its not minimal trance...its Neo-Trance! (lol)Yeah some people have referred to a few kompakt artists (actully, releases) in this way. Its minimal techno actually but it is a little more hypnotic, melodic and sounscapei-ish e.g.

From the countless and pointless minimal/glitch-techno/micro-house garbage out there i actually like these more "atmospheric" releases. Its still within the minimal genre though, there are not substantial releases to create a new seperate sub-genre such as "neo-trance" (or minimal-trance as you say).

I guess by saying minimal trance I am not necessarily trying to say its a legimate genre or sub genre, just using two terms that if combined I think simply anyone who knows them seperately would get what I am aiming for I heard a couple long mixes with a couple pretty good tracks in them but I don't recognize the artist or tracks to know what to pursue . Some of the examples so far are pretty much what I was thinking though.

if you are looking for percussion, some melody, piano ec download this

i would not call it minimal though, although dj tools are used in the spirit of the way most mnml dj's tend to mix.

/shameless.

repetitive does not mean minimal

i dont know that i have heard many trance tracks that i would consider to be minimalist, and I am considering classic trance as well.

i think trance music has its origins in additive composition, adding percussive and hypnotic rhythmic layers, arpeggiation, etc to techno tracks. So even in their origin, trance tracks were not really created with a minimalist sentiment. The sentiment was hypnosis and groove, and later on we all know what became of trance, and it's certainly not minimalist.

I do think trance is capable of being created with minimalist sentiments, and I'd like to at least hear what this would sound like.

There is some detroit techno in the rob hood vein that approaches trance music, especially releases on the Tresor label, which you might be able to call minimal trance.
