sven's selection process is basically:
pick a bunch of tunes on january 1st of any given year, then only play those until the next january first rolls along.
I think this only really applies for his normal 1-to-2 hour sets. His brilliant track selection is on display for his extended sets like at Aria years ago. Amazing.
The guy has a record bag that's 20 years deep and he uses it all.

I think the thing that makes Sven interesting and unique (but not entirely unique, there are other DJs who do this too) is that he has SO much fame, SO much history and SO many fans but yet he really just seems to be about sharing music with people, and he is not afraid to get close with his fans to do that. He really seems to be more into being right down there enjoying the music with everyone than putting on records up in some isolated DJ booth.
This video is an example - it made me smile watching it - I love Sven! His 7+ hour set at Aria was just a DJ experience I will never forget.
