I was exaggerating to make a point on how these people do not come out to listen to the music. Like I would actually expect people to be able to name a song...

You apparently don't get sarcasm or just like arguing over the internet. Either way, you're being dumb and whether or not you mean to, are adamantly trying to fill the shoes of devil's advocate in this issue.

Elitist?

No.

Sarcastic, bitter music enthusiast who doesn't like being pushed out of his spot by a random group of people who aren't even listening to the music?

Yes.

I think we should judge how crowded it going to be maybe by looking at the views on the wanttickets.com page....I know Armin had like around 3000 views when I looked....And not sure of the capacity of Opera...But lets just say for theory that half of the people that viewed it bought tickets...That is 1500 tickets right there. And that is not even counting the people that purchase at the door. Also remember their "capacity" is including the halls, huge back 2 rooms and outdoor area. But who wants to be there when the djs are playing...So really the capacity for our general purposes is around 500 probably, maybe 700 if you count VIP...And that is that front room fully packed...So go figure....3000 hits on the page, maybe 1500 purchases, and only 700 can fit in the main room. Those are all estimates of course but you get the point.

RITM currenty has 673 and Markus has 347. I would say when around 1500 is when you start getting into the danger zone. I may start using this as a reference point. For example, if you look at Acosta tonight, it already has 720 hits when the capacity is 400. It will be a sardine can in there. Only about maybe 80 can comfortably fit on that dance floor...And at half of 720 making a purchase, you already have 360 tickets sold and I'm sure more will sell at the door.

You're pointing out precisely the reason why most people move from trance to house.

When I was fascinated by trance in 03/04, one of my moments was the Tiësto In Concert dvd. The amount of people, length of time playing, and music just blitzed me. But then, when I actually started going out and realized what that looked like from the inside, I despised it.

That random group of people isn't new. Ask yourself: why have you put up with the stuff for so long?

please don't try to guess how many people bought a ticket because of how many people viewed a url

Umm, if you read my post buddy, I was saying that it was all theorizing and had nothing to do with exact numbers. But what is not theory is that with a higher number of URL hits, there are a higher number of ticket sales and you can base your own estimations and choose what you want to do off of that.

I've been putting up with it for the last 6 or so years because I enjoy going out with my friends listening to music I enjoy. I would even argue 2003-2006, it wasn't anything like this. Crowded yes..."fake fans" yes...but not this crowded with this many people who aren't actually listening to the music.

But it's definitely been a growing pain the last 2 years. Guess I'm just reaching critical mass, and this is an outlet for me to vent.

AMEN! I used to enjoy going out, and I'll still sacrifice for certain artists... but Opera tends to RUIN my experience in one way or another every show I've made it out to, lately. After RITM (and unless someone just as rare/epic comes through), I WILL NOT put my money into that venue.
