It really comes down to the price and features

Serato Scratch Live SL 3 = 700 USD
: Easy to setup.
: Great supporting forums
: Soild and stable
: Video mixing for 200 bucks more

-Only one efx and that is the roll efx
-Expensive

Traktor Scratch Pro = 600 USD / 450 USD Edu Version

:Extremely low audio distortion
:20 on board EFX + Filters
:Very loud sound card

-Somewhat support forums

This is something personal, and of course you don't have to listen, and I am not scratcher, however I notice Traktor DVS is extremely fast when it comes scratching while serato (SL-1) has a little bit of double beat when it comes to scratching.

Is there a difference in the academic version of pro? I'm a student and that's a good saving right there.

No.

I went with traktor after selling serato because it works better with old shitty turntables, RCA cords, and needles/carts.

Nice,
What would you say the performance of traktor is when you're playing time code vinyl, is there noticeable latency and how well does it hold pitch compared to an actual record on your tt's?

Reason I ask is because I use to run torq with time code vinyls and it was epic fail on that end.

According to Omega on the other thread, he got one for 300 bucks.. I dont know if there is going to be a education version of scratch duo.

Torq has the advantage of 3rd party vst plugins.

Eh if I were you, I'd just get it. Screw it hehe

No latency that I notice, and I can scratch just fine with them. Holds the pitch just fine. Feels the same as vinyl.

That right there sums it up, and in my opinion the dac on traktor is more accurate in sound reproduction than in Serato. Personally, I have both and i like traktor way better. Also, traktor uses 2.0 Khz resolution vinyls, far superior than the other dvs systems out there. It states that it offers twice the resolution.

Also, the CDj-400's work with Serato natively...No timecode cd's needed.

I have no issue with torq 1.5. lots of features and works to my satisfaction.

If I were going to chose between your two picks... I would go Sereto. Just seems clean and solid. And that's how I like it.

Is Serato limited to just two decks/channels? That could be limiting for some people.
