My advice would be to forget all the bells and whistles for the time being and focus totally on beat matching. Until you have that down you may as well forget effects and other crazyness.

My reasoning is this.
If you are mixing, it makes sense to be proficient at BM, you need to get beats mathed as quickly as possible (and matched well), this will then trigger other creative aspects especially when you reach a point where you don't even have to conciously think about BM.

Learn a little about phrase matching too as this will assist with the BM process. It also makes good sense to understand musical aspects as this will give you better preparation with regards to getting the most out of your gear.

Cheers
Nem

Yeah I already began, right now I am learning how to beat matching similar sounding songs such ass 1999, and skipper. (tech house)

Those little djing for dummies videos on youtube were a great help as well.

A bit too much I would say

To delusional:

Dude, you're a perfect example of the words WANKER and OVERKILL. You have absolutely no idea about what you're doing, yet you went out and got the best CD turntables in the market and a mixer that is way above your level of experience.

Sorry for being an asshole, but I can't believe nobody has said it already.

fuck, i wish i could've afforded all that shit when i first started out. hell i wish i could afford it now.

seems like a worthwhile investment, dropping thousands of dollars into something you don't know how to do yet.

haha....and to think before I started mixing I read everything there was to read about the subject....and this was before spending $250 total for an old well used mixer, old used headphones, a used turntable and a open box turntable, and a small lot of used records off ebay , to use with my $20 computer speakers. That was 7 years ago, and I still would love to have the setup this dude has...

Anyway, to answer your original question - you have to do something called "riding the pitch". This is where every time you hear it start to go out of sync, you change the pitch momentarily to get it back on. Or on your crazy CDJ-1000's you can slowly move the jog wheel, and if you're off enough move the pitch slider slightly too so that it takes longer to happen again. With practice, you will hear it go out of sync way before anyone else does, so to everyone else it sounds good.

But for now just focus on getting the pitch as close as possible before bringing in the second track by beatmatching. With CDJ-1000's you should be able to get it basically spot on, since they have a very high pitch resolution. You could easily go 2 or 3 minutes mixed without having to touch anything if you beat matched well enough.
