Maybe the keys are retractable I wonder about the cost of that keyboard.

That lazer thing is wicked. I remeber seeing it on CSI miami a few years ago and thinking that's fake, but it since came to market.

Do the keys retract on that keyboard combo thing? I have very little space and that could save a lot of headache.

I use the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 both at home and at work. I actually bought it out-of-pocket for work. I swear by this keyboard. It's ergonomic (obviously) but they DON'T mangle the arrow and home key clusters, you can turn off the function key remapping, and there's a built-in padded wrist surface (not some flimsy piece you attach, it's part of the keyboard). No problems with key action and they last for years.

There's only one thing that bugs me about it and I only have this problem at work - if it's on a pull-out tray then it's a little too easy to accidentally hit the back/forward buttons just below the space bar, which can be a nuisance if you like to push in the tray when you leave the computer or you're not using it. This bothers me maybe once a week, and I think it's a small price to pay.

I honestly can't recommend that one highly enough. I've never even found a reasonable alternative, let alone a better one.

P.S. It is USB but you can just toss an adapter on it. I'd recommend upgrading your KVM anyway... USB versions are what, $20 now? $30?

The KVM I have at the moment is 8 port. So yeah, little bit more expensive than that haha.

I have used USB KVMs in the past but always had trouble with them. Often if you boot up, without having the computer selected in the KVM, then the mouse sensitivity gets all messed up and stuff.

Anyway, the thing holding me back from getting one of these ergo keyboards is that I don't actually touch type properly. My left hand does all the proper movements, except I only use my little finger for shift. My right hand is crazy - I only use two fingers lol. I really can't be bothered typing properly so I am thinking it might be better to just get a normal keyboard but with scissor keys.

I didn't formally learn to touch type either, and found the ergonomic layout awkward at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly, usually within a few weeks. "Touch-typing" isn't really all that hard to get the hang of when you already have a mental map of the keys.

That's my recommendation anyway, from someone who's frustrated himself with over 30 different keyboard models. Take it or leave it.

Logitech G15, very nice keys that have a nice adjustable backlight for late at night sessions and 18 (x 3 banks) of macro keys that I have assigned to various DAW shortcuts (great!). The G15 also has an LCD display that you can use to monitor CPU and GPU temp if you want to overclock (i'm over that now so its basically a little clock), or atleast monitor CPU and RAM usage.
