oh well... i didn't think about the significance of unemployment security. here it would be definitely better to quit than to have "fired" written in your service record regardless of the reason (labor book, or whatever it's called in English)

yea, I am living in the US, there is no such thing here...

You just have to put down your previous employers and most of them wont even attempt to say things bad about you to a new employer beyond the information that they need like work dates and salary. Talking bad opens up a whole arena of defamation suits.

So what was the point of making them fire you? You won't be able to use them as a reference. In addition, you won't be entitled to unemployment due to the circumstance of your firing.

collect unemployment and fuck the reference, just omit it from the resume (unless it was a big, big part of your work experience). there's a couple jobs i don't throw on my resume because i worked there for a short amount of time or told them to fuck off, etc.

don't listen to IGK if they fired you, you're good for unemployment. then again they could contest that you willingly left (when they gave you that ultimatum) therefore causing a shitstorm for yourself and the unemployment division

edit: ALSO, if you're going to school, you can't collect unemployment. keep that in mind when you fill out your shit

I am not starting right away, I haven't registered for classes yet, or even looked. I need to look into summer semester. There are some credits I need to pick up before I can really advance to anything useful.

If I don't get unemployment its not a huge deal, but I don't want to put a burden on my family if I can.

LOL If they contest they can look forward to a lengthy battle that they most likely can not afford. The company was in dire straights. Most everyone I've talked to give it less than a year to go. I hadn't done billable work, nor had most of my coworkers for at least the last month.
