religion does not necessarily imply that you believe/worship white-beard dudes from high above. faith is about believing something that cannot be proved logically, scientifically etc. humankind has not yet evolved enough to debunk the existence of god. there are no objective facts for or against. that means regardless of whether you are a believer or an atheist, you still happen to rely on faith (pure belief). so f**king relax and enjoy life

atheism has but one "faith" if you will: there is no god.
religion has like a bajillion beliefs that follow on from: there is a god. completely different kettles of fish.

I thought atheists used facts and scientific evidence, not faith, I could be wrong though.

scientific proof that god does not exist? lol all those experiments with creating primitive life forms and the big bang theory etc? wait another 100 years and see what humanity will come up with. first they said the earth was flat. now they say it's round. tomorrow it will be declared dick-shaped whatever.
i think it's like the horizon that you keep going towards but never reach.

Why must atheist beliefs be squared against God? Atheist beliefs are generally posited on science. The only faith required is in the accuracy of science, which is a self-improving system that corrects its errors over time. As far as I'm concerned as an atheist, proving Christianity wrong is as relevant as proving the sun god Ra false.

Although people like you who question science usually demonstrate fuck-all knowledge of what you're talking about. The ancient Greeks knew the Earth was a sphere: go look at a statue of Atlas. If I had the right book with me I could give you the name of a Greek mathematician who calculated the Earth's circumference with incredible accuracy, thousands of years ago. The only people who've ever thought the Earth was flat were the ignorant. Never science.

Yes, that is true; the book's name was "Circumference: Eratosthenes and Ancient Quest to measure the Globe". A marvelous book. However there are also some older books about him as well. I recommend making a trip to the library and taking a look. Worth it!

An absolutely magnificent mind.
Eratosthenes, 276-195 B.C.

I always question everything. Science has been evolving too, you know. What matters is what I question the most - science or irrational religions. Of course, I tend to believe science more. But you never know what might be around the corner. That is the philosophical way of living - always have a bit of doubt in everything. The truth is usually somewhere in between two polar opinions - in history, in politics etc.
