You can get higher bit-depth on a PC than you can a Mac and most of the high resolution PCIe soundcards only work in PC's anyway.

most highend sound cards tend to support mac before pc. Lynx and Rme both have pcie sound cards that work both on pc and mac. As far as the bit depth comment, i'm assuming you are being funny so i won't reply to that.

pc does have the advantage of the old pci slots which allows many more choices concerning soundcards that often are alot cheaper. Despite alot of fuss concerning firewire , which i think most of it is focused around pc , i haven't had a bad experience.

Like i said before, i use a mac but would never recommend one for someone starting out.

Then why are the called PCi cards?













(The whole of it was just me being funny - I've been looking at macs just as hard as PC's (my current setup) and still haven't ruled out the RME line, even though I'm also liking Apogee cards and boxes if I decide to go Mac.)

i would honestly wait a few months till osx snow leopard comes out for mac and windows 7 becomes more universal.

Buying a computer at a time of pivotal change is risky. PC has advantages over things you would think would be completely owned by Mac. For example, all adobe products are 64 bit for pc but not for mac. Cubase is only 64 bit for pc. I don't think there is actually a single app that is 64 bit for osx. There are some work around apps like esx24 and Vienna Ensemble that allow the access to the 32 gb limit but things are still a little weird.

you really have to know what you want because pc and mac can be the ideal solution but it really depends on what you actually are looking for.

You and I are in complete agreement on all points. It will probably take that long, anyway. Currently, the needle is favoring PC, but I'm not that close to a purchase date and I think the system I'm using, currently, probably still has one more major (as in epic) project on it.

There are definite perceivable advantages to waiting for the 'tock' on the other side of technology 'ticks' where I'm concerned.

I've thought about this long and hard, had years of hands on experience, One is kinda ugly, the other looks awesome. One moves really slow, the other is really fast. One eats more than the other but one is cheeper to feed. So after years of thought and rigorous testing, I've made my decision. I'm getting a turtle.

Is using Logic enough justification for getting a high end sound card on Mac, instead of waiting 4-5 months and getting it on windows?

can someone recomend me a good mediaplayer for mac? itunes fucking sucks for other than full albums. ive tried realplayer but it doenst work with my soundcard (!), quicktime is waste, VLC has a terrible volumecontrol (300% at max destroying everything) and interface. what else is there?

Why is quicktime no good? You need to the codecs for it but I've found it to be flawless for every file type I've tried.
