Oh wow you were a Senior Producer of Video Production? I used to go that site a lot GameSpot.com, that was back in the days when I was still crazy about video games... right now I rarely touch my PS3 anymore..

I'll keep a watch out for any job openings in my company, I know that they have just launched a new website that sells mp3s and merchandises from various artists... I know they've done few videos with a few artists to promote the website, but it wasn't on a larger scale.. again, the website is a new division to the company, and it is still growing, so I hope sooner or later they will need someone for the video production (I guess depends on how fast the website is growing too). By then, I really hope you already got a job but if not I'll keep that in mind.. sorry can't really you with anything right now, but I hope someone else will read your post here

Well, after I get a car if i can just find something that I can either do or learn to do (again, I self-teach myself everything....like I did web design back int he late 90s, and taught myself things like PERL and TCL back then. But I don't remember anything about it anymore) and make decent pay, I may take it up just to get out of the house. And if I can grow within the company from there, then great, if not I'll look at other options down the road. I am not one that likes to jump around (I had several offers over the yeas and turned them all down), though....so I'd rather grow within a company as long as the peeps are cool.

I was actually interviewed at GameSpot to be a web designer (probably 75% of the large fan-based videogame sites back in the late 90s, when they actually had a lot of power, were done by me lol), was hired as a writer (as I wrote for one of the most powerful fansites), and then a week later they moved to the video team that was starting up because I had a background in it. I actually taught summer school as a 15 year old and a part of it was video production stuff. It was two teachers and a few students becasue we were teaching teachers and students from other schools int he county. I had to get a FBI background check like any normal hire in the Orange County (Florida) Public School system. Not many peeps can say that lol.

there are jobs out there...but none of these guys getting $950 every two weeks would take a job that pays $12 an hour($480 a week, $960 bimonthly)

I wouldnt mind taking the rest of the year off and still making about $2,000 to NOT work.

From what I remember from when I was on it, it is not too late to file for it! Don't feel bad about taking it! It is YOUR money to begin with! Unemployment insurance comes out of your check already! Unless you were 1099, then tough shit...also, shit maybe diff now....

No i am sure i can still get it, but its pointless now.

I am starting UCSD in the Fall to work on my Masters so its kinds pointless. I know as soon as they see i am enrolled for school, they cut it immediately.

The more i think of it, the more i know i fucked up on not doing anything right when i got let go!

haha

As long as it's approved by the state (just call up and saying you are trying to a Masters to increase your opportunities), you can go back to school and be on unemployment. There's an entry right on the form you send in every two weeks about. In fact, if they approve of you going back to school, you aren't required to go back to work!

Either way, I say it's worth a shot. Worst they can do is say no.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they will EXTEND your benefits if you enroll in school! They WANT you to be more employable. My one "friend" purposely enrolled in some crap classes just to get the extension.
