I'm pretty sure you could kill yourself with a cup of it. But it's not hard to avoid overdose. Just don't use much more of it than you would use of regular salt...

My roommate at school one year used to buy these big boxes of sunflower seeds. It seemed like he went through a few bags of seeds every day.

LOL, nope. He just loved the sunflower seeds. And burnt popcorn -- our suitemates used to bitch at him for burning the popcorn because the smell leaked into their room.
