this comment was mine a long time ago..
but I've solved the banana problem... I've made a repair in it's chassis.
Also the attak clicks can be solved by routing a slower attak to the ribbon when filter closes.. I use an expression pedal to control the ribbon so I can play with two hands and without clicks

Ok, I think tomorrow I'll post here a tutorial on how to make a repair in JP-8000 chassis (with photos) by yourself and how to tweak the patches and get rid of the clicks... wait

i much prefer a hands on approach personally. But this is due to me starting out many years ago before softsynths were a big thing.

i agree that the JPs knobs and sliders are terrible. I also think that dave smith instruments synths have horrible encoders but it is justified as the sound is top notch!

Is the SUPERWAVEP8 still the closest emulator we have for this synth? Are there any patches for other VSTs that emulate some wicked sounds from the JP?

So much so I sold my JP8080.

Why would it sound cliche? Just because it has a supersaw waveform doesn't mean you have to use it Rank1 style. It's a very flexible waveform and can be used for alot of different types of sounds. Also, it has the feedback osc which is sadly forgotten most of the time.

Synth1 is much more similar to the JP8k supersaw.

But synth1 is based on the nord lead

yeah i agree, it does feel like shit when your starting with the default patch, but you have to work hard on it to get what you want.

You can create interesting sounds using two different patches on the lower/upper tiers and the synth set to dual.

I like the JP-8080 a lot.
