Well linkin park do have some fairly metalcore influenced stuff and stuff in that mood and with those sortof lyrics. So, exception rather then rule really, although I'd argue they are somewhat emo, and emo's did used to like them back in 2001/2002 when people had still actually heard of them.

The emo guy fashion did somewhat come from the indie guy fashion... and uhh indie chicks look nothing like emo chicks so no need for comparison.

Indie aka hipster guys: Fairly long fringes, although never covering the eyes. Black skinny leg jeans although more as in the black denim jeans which are usually less interesting then the one's emo guys wear. Hair often straightened, although not as much as emo guy's hair. Although I guess indie and hipster are slightly different things.

Often wears colours like brown or coldish blues.

Emo guys:
Slightly longer fringes, often covering the eyes. Eyeliner isn't so common these days but it's certainly a lot more common with emo guys than any other males. Skinny leg faded to grey black jeans (which I fail at finding a picture of, I've got plenty, and I know tons of guys who wear them and you see them a lot, but google fails me). Hair allmost allways straightened, and with a very big focus on a large amount of texturing and layers in the hair. Hair often spiked up tons at the back, to an extreme this can create the "peacock" hairstyle.

Emo's hardly ever listen to electro or similar (although some scene chicks are into electro, lets just not go there) so I'd place a fairly high bet the OP was talking about indies/hipsters/bohemians.

Wears a lot of black, as well as colours like really warm reds or purples or aqua. Hair is very often dyed black as well, although some guys keep their hair blonde.

(the person on the left of the above is a chick btw)

your knowledge is impressive, the force is strong with this one.

in my area, they have clubs that basically play justice/boys noize/smd/mstrkrft but also play obscure 80's indie newwave/goth stuff. the people from both scenes dress similiar and music is actually not that much different so it makes sense.

its always a VDJ playing the music videos to these tracks on multiple projector screens. He will also play the tracks almost in their entireity back to back with slight mixing intros/outros.

anyone else seen this type of club in your town?

I got bored of the Justice/Simian/MSTRKRFT harder tinged electro pretty quickly... but I think that stuff is a bit separate from "nu-disco", which I tend to think of more as the Italo revival (I've seen it referred to as "cosmic disco" in other places) - artists like Tensnake, Ilija Rudman, Sally Shapiro, Aeroplane, Prins Thomas.

No idea what you mean by "emo-tronic", but the emo vocals in trance that was big a few years back totally turned me off the genre.

Anyone want to link a youtube of this? I'm highly skeptical.

People use "emo" as a general term for anything that has a lot of raw and whiny emotions on display. This is why Linkin Park gets called "emo."

They do actually have songs with quite an emo mood and a singing style which is close to emo stuff though (and a lot of emo's well used to listen to them).

Hipsters have liked electro since the 80s
