The first electronic song I heard was
The Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl and I loved it!
Then I heard a Hi NRG CD in a store and I loved it. So I git it and then looked around for more of that stuff and got more like Nick Skitz if any of you know him. I hate it now. Then someone suggested that I would like Paul Oakenfold so I downloaded Oakey live at Gatecrasher 1999 and Ive been hooked ever since! I mean that set would hook anyone and it still amazes me! WOAH. But I have a feeling that I will love trance for a very long time if not forever!

As far as I can remember, I listened to some of my sisters 80's pop music when I was like 4-5 then later on I started to listen to Guns n' Roses, I still like them! Then I listened to all kinds of music, then I started to listen to hip hop (euuuww) but while I listened to hip hop, I heard Robert Miles - Children and some other tunes from him, then I just started to download some electronic music, eurodance and stuff like that. Then I finally found out the trance music and here I am now

I listened to jean michel jarre a lot.
then a new sound was born for me the song 'Jack your body', and of course the acid and new beat later.
I discovered a club in my town they played music like d-shake yaaah, dance the night away, fierce rulling diva rubb it in, lfo lfo, and slowly I was growing into the new style.
jam and spoon / dance to trance did it for me, I fell in love with trance till now, my mind is addicted to it !

When I was about 9 thru about 18, I remember listening to nothing but newave...Nitzer Ebb, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Front 242, etc, etc. I remember how I always loved the mild trancey sounds lingering thru some of their songs. Then came along Robert Miles...I remember buying his cd. I liked it so much I stuck with it and Depeche Mode.... then came Binary Finary, Cafe Del Mar, Universal Nation, Words, For An Angel...... and it was ALL OVER! Now I listen to NOTHING else other than.

Erm, Started off listening to pop music (oh how ashamed of it I am) then heard Robert Miles - Children, kinda got me interested. A year later I found ecstacy and it all really kicked of from there.

That was me exactly... Orbital - Halcyon & On & On ( i always listen to it on planes )I am amazed how Hackers got so many people into electronica . I love the soundtracks. The reason i ended up getting all three was that I was in search of this amazing track in the film , when kate goes out on the balcony to catch her breath at tha party...I ended up finding out later it was Massive Attack - Protection, don't know why they didn't put it on there, despite putting on a whole bucnh of stuff not even in the movie.

I got into it since my dad really loved new wave and ambient, stuff like jam & spoon, jan michel jarre, depeche mode, tangerine dream.... then we got a weekly electronica radio show in the area.
I remember we were in my friends car listening to it, and I yelled " WHOA WHAT IS THIS, IT's AMAZING!!" and they told me shane - c'est la musique. Then i ran home, and taped it, and they closed out with for an angel. I was hooked like everyone else then..

cheers
Ilina

For the longest time, i had no musical interest what so ever. I pretended to like Hip hop, in like grade 7, just so i could look cool. Then in grade 9, i discoverd mp3s, and then i started actually liking hip hop :|. I liked hip hop until may of last year, when my friend showed me Mauro Picotto - Komodo, and a few other songs, and of course, TA.com since then i've listend to nothing but trance/house.

Anyone remember ULTRA SONIC. "We have A Question?"

That was the first real electronik stuff i got into. Before that it was Gun's N Roses, a small bit of metallica and all sorts of other stuff.

if the HK-pop i heard (like most hongkongers do) in my childhood doesn't count, i started with New Order when i was 14. it was "True Faith" that got me into electronic music. also listened to dance pop, new age, trip-hop, drum & bass, big-beat & ambient techno, before i heard trance in 1998. still listen to New Order a lot, stopped listening to HK-pop since God knows when.
