5 years of elementary, 3 years of middle, 4 years of high school.

its k-12 in the US.

Kindergarten, then first through twelfth grade and its mandatory for all those years, so really its 13 years of required school.

Though you can drop out in HS... like I did at the end of 2004 (I DID MY TIME!)
