It would depend on the aspect of music you are refering to. Math is a system of relationships that can describe certain components of music like pitch or timber but it doesn't really explain any of the actual interesting things concerning the art side of music. Math does not explain melody, it doesn't explain harmony, it doesn't explain counterpoint , it doesn't explain the affects of certain rhythms...

so no, I don't think math == music.
