I think I deleted the e-mail, but their proposed three-tier system went something like (correct me if I'm wrong)

Hi-Speed Lite - limited d/l & u/l speeds: $30/month
Hi-Speed Regular - as it is now, w/ unlimited bandwidth: $45/month
Server - if you are hosting a server and uploading more: $80/month

Well….. as I see it, people should try to buy some of the tracks, to support the artists, but that another topic.

Bandwidth is costly, for example, a quad processor server that will service approximately 1000 clients start at about $300,000 US, that’s about $480,000 plus extra for the switching system.

I believe they should have some kind of package that allows you up to 10 GB for like an extra $10 or so per month. Just a thought.

I know I will get my ass ripped for saying the above, but what can I do.

My 2 cents.

How can this be official? I don't think we've been notified of anything by Rogers.

And they haven't mentioned anything about my server yet...

Yeah, I never really understood the $80 server price.. I guess it's for those that want to have a more secure and legitimate Internet business, and not get caught for server-type activity on the regular $45 plan. On the other hand, why the hell would you want cable and its shitty upstream for legitimate servers?

I have Bell Sympatico, and the byte cap went into effect last week. If Audiogalaxy had not gone down when it did, I would have exceeded the cap by now.

Im curious to see what Rogers has planned. I dont know what other Hispeed providers there are in my area, so when Rogers announces its cap, I will have to decide which is best, Rogers or Sympatico.

I used to have Rogers, and it was much faster than Bell. Bell completely sucks, and often, I have periods of close to 30 seconds when the modem just seems to freeze. We definetly need more competition.

Maybe if you wanted to do some web-hosting out of your home, but didn't want to pay for a T1?

I'm just thinking that webpages with cable hosts (more specifically, Rogers cable) can really piss off their clients, lol
