Yeah, I hadn't thought about getting rid of that. I suppose I don't need 8 in/out for MIDI, or any MIDI at all really. Let me dismantle a few things tonight and I'll get in touch.

I too would reccomend the benchmark. Its excellent sounding, especially when hooked up to a high end monitoring system!

Yeah, that looks good as well, and in the same price range with the Mini DAC. I have a bit of time to make my decision, but either of those two should be better than the MOTU native DAC.

Disclaimer: Not that the MOTU DAC is horrible, but the point of this exercise is to improve my DAC.

The 828 is a Firewire product - there is no PCI version.

I think you've got the right idea. Can't really go wrong with MOTU for your interface and Apogee for the DAC.
