I put cowbell on my master. Not a lot, just a dash of cowbell. Maybe a pinch of papirika every now and then. If I'm really feeling good I'll put some magic bullet film look on it to.

No, you have to put a compressor with a threashold of -40db. Gain of 14db, and ratio of 8:1, 3 of those, with a limiter set to -2db. And then slap a soundgoodizer on it to fix all that bad stuff that was just introduced to the mix that couldn't possibly be related to the compressors. Then set latency to 2048. And render as 420kbit .mp3.

Lately I have taken to cutting every channels freq below 50hz bass 45hs and another cut on master of below 45hz in case some sneek through. I then compress with waves SSL then exite and widen with ozone. Im gettin a good sound doin that i dont knwo if its right. What is right anyway?

There is no right way, it depends on your situation and what you want to accomplish. As Subtle said, he doesn't put anything on, cause he has it post processed. Me, I try to do what I can. I am not a professional mastering engineer, but, I like to do my own tracks for now, I don't have money to pay someone, and even if I did, I kinda would like to get good at it myself, I know that its good to have someone else
's ears on it, but, I believe mastering to be an art in itself, and I personally would like to keep learning that art

Why would you master in a seperate process if by mastering before bouncing you can conserve headroom and thus maintain greater dynamic range. If you bounce out and then filter, you've just basically bounced out and turned down the material, which is bad for the bit depth. You're better off bouncing out only once from what I can see. Although I might be wrong about that.

This is all theoretical, and as someone who clips the master a bit, you can imagine I don't really care. but even those of you who do care should probably be mastering before bouncing out
