I didn't think MTV played music anymore. I haven't watched MTV in like 10 years but isn't it all just reality tv shows? If we got reality tv shows with the chicks from the basshunter vids then I wouldn't care .

I agree. I watched MTV a while ago and I never saw any music.
I told my brother and he was like "all they show are shitty teen age shows that teach the youth that only a person with money and bling bling is a human".

Why bother about MTV if we have TMF (Holland) and VIVA (Germany)?

TMF is a subsidiary of MTV. I see don't see much music being played on TMF either actually.. anyways, who cares?

If MTV was to start marketing dance music, which they probably wouldn't, my guess it would be dubstep.

MTV America is totally different from MTV Europe, which has always supported at least some Dance music.
There was a period of time around 97-99 that MTV in the US flirted with edgier Electronica that had commercial appeal. What I mean by that are songs like "Firestarter" by the Prodigy, the Chemical Brothers records, and even Faithless.

A lot of the big DJs in the realm of House and Trance are now producing more commercially-accessible music. I know you some of you guys hate crossover stuff, but it could work with the masses.
David Guetta's collaboration with Kelly Rowland is currently number one on the Pop charts in the UK, and just broke into the Top 40 Airplay chart in America. You might start seeing more of these collaborations taking place.
The biggest benefactors of such a movement could be a new generation of young up and coming talented DJ/producers who will know how to properly market themselves as Rock stars.
