I had a 386/16Mhz in 1989...... although the upgrade to a 486/66 soon thereafter was a HUGE boost in speed...

I'd have to say that around 1994 that the move (486/66 -> Pentium 133) was MASSIVE.. the speed was unreal.. I only finally moved to a PII-400 in 1999... so.. that 133 lasted 5 years and ran shit pretty well.. now there is too muchbloatware so you need the processor to compensate for poor coding.

I started with a commedore 64... we had a little program on casette that looked like the ancient M$ word...

Then we got a .....486 16 mhz, then a 486 66mhz, p1 133, then a p2, 233 mhz, ...ehhh... oh yeah a celeron 500. then i got my P3 1000

Which i have current... (i think of upgrading... Grand Theft Auto 3 sucks on a p3-1000)
