I am not sure if you have heard of Drupal, but it's a content management system. If you are looking to make daily updates without the need of a developer, this is the way to go. www.drupal.org

I used Drupal for my website: www.vernato.com

Also, I wouldn't spend as much time learning all these programs if you have no future aspirations for programming. Pay the professionals to do it. It will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

Personally, I'm more of a wordpress kind of guy, because it's standards compliant and whatnot, but I think Drupal is indeed a good pick for a starter.

edit: Those designs are awesome, Kapedano, I'm seriously thinking of getting the Brazilian shirt (and I'm the least nationalist person you can ever meet )

Angelfire and Fortunecity are still up, he can host it on either one. Or both, you never know when you need a mirror.

You need to have an "about me" page too. Also be sure to upload the page as soon as the main page is done. Just put an under construction pic on the pages that aren't ready yet.

having developed websites more or less as a professional, i'd recommend wordpress for a beginner over drupal. drupal is just too many choices and craziness, and it's significantly more difficult to design custom templates.
