I would say the overall groove and production is well done and I consider it cleanly put together. However the arrangement is quite poor in my opinion. So I do not think it is ready to send out by any means. The energy build up after the intro isn't very good. After my head gets used to the percussion and groove, I grow somewhat complacent with the song. Work on building up tension, because without a solid arrangement you do not have a good piece of music.

Overall the mixdown and percs are really danceable. If done properly (energy control, tension, etc) you could have a very nice minimal version of this song. If not done minimally, in this present state, the track would probably need some more elements.

So yeah, just my humble opinion. Good luck, sounds good.

thanks for the criticism, i will definitely experiment with what you said a bit. i always felt that it needed more work with the dynamics to give it a bit more emotion in certain places. i agree the overall feel "plateaus" and doesnt really go anywhere after that.. but is that necessarily a bad thing?

Well he will have to tighten up the arrangement quite a bit.

I agree with the EQ point, I dont have monitors btw so cant say much about that. But please, this song doesnt need more stuff in it. I think it is great and I find it hard to belive that I am the only one.
Just work on the mix a bit to make it as clean as possible .

I Dont say my way is the only way but just want to let you know you got at least one fan of it. Then you can do whatever you want

keep it up

so give it a bit more punch with the kick, and perhaps compress the vocals a bit? i was listening to it yesterday and thought the vocals were a bit too loud and muddied up the mix a bit, at least in the midrange area

The vocals sound good, try lowering them. However, do what you can. Just listen to some other remixes of Heap and do an A&B, this will really help. Tightening up the mix means making many, many edits that although the track is very minimal, edits and automation to give energy and presence to your song is extremely relevant. You have to control the energy, sustainence and tension of that groove you made.

yeah, i mean i don't feel that every track should have an epicly pronounced buildup or breakdown. i'm definitely trying to shy away from a trance or epic diva house-type sound.

i really appreciate your support- i'm gonna work on it some more and post up an update sometime tonight
