I must disagree with Magadansky here, the tracklist is what made me most intrigued, but that is probably because I haven't heard most of the tunes as of yet, as I am kind of new to goa/psy and I'm finding it difficult to get hold of physical media for most/any of the "big" artists...

I mean, my current list (of Goa/Psy/Classic Trance consists of:
Juno Reactor - Transmissions
Hallucinogen - Twisted
Blue Planet Corporation - Blue Planet (LP)
X-Dream - Radio and We Created Our Own Happiness
Astral Projection - Amen, Another World and In The Mix
Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation and Delta Aquarids
Art of Trance - Wildlife On One and Voice Of Earth
Union Jack - There Will Be No Armageddon
Infected Mushroom - The Gathering
Dragonfly - A Voyage Into Trance (Yes, the mixed cds Paul Oakenfold and Danny Rampling did)
Domestic - Art Making Machine
Order Odonata Vol. 5

And the worst part is I don't think I left anything out there.

So for me, this mix will surely introduce me to another score of artists whos CDs are no longer available aside from second-hand/online auctions.

I'm 25 mins in the mix atm and the transitions are very good. Can hardly notice when a new track kicks in

netroM, that's why I said "for me" a few times in my review since I did thought that a lot of these tracks would be new for someone like you. However I possess many of them, mainly from compilations since they were very popular back in the day. I definitely agree with your point about the mixing, I loved it in this set, superb flow!

thanks a lot magadansky for takin the time for this detailed review! obviously u r not new to the sound, so it is a great pleasure to receive good marks from somewhat of a colleague. yes, the tempo changes... in fact the first hour i tried to keep around 142bpm, and then hallucinogen - trancespotter brings it up naturally (as i'm sure u know) since it speeds up from somewhere around 142 to about 148bpm in the middle of the tune! i remember that used to screw me up so badly back in the day when i was matching up a tune in the headphones... back then i always figured it was just the acid. anyways, towards the end of the mix the tempo goes back down to 140 or so at the end. this is something i like to do a lot, and although u heard it, obviously the goal is to do it subtly, with tempo changes taking place slowly over the course of several minutes. tends to have a great effect on the floor, and gives u the flexibility to play stuff u might not normally within a set!

about the tracklist... well, it's as u said... something like the 'best of' from those years in a mix... which was more or less the point for me personally since it is far from what i normally play these days. ppl have asked me 'u used to like goa?!?' disbelievingly in the past, and this mix is to prove to them that 'yes, goa used to kick major ass!!'... plus it's less offensive than uploading a full rip of said yellow compilation... u know what i'm talkin about. so yea, i might try and do another mix with more obscure sounds, but it might take me a while as it aims rather far away from my usual target audience. ... or can i still get bookings playing this shit?! of course, seeing how much attention ppl like u have paid to the details of this mix is by itself a pretty good motivator. thanks again for the kind words!

ps: cheers also for catching the tracklist error. i had planned to use the tuned in mix originally, but my vinyl is so battered and the rip turned out so shitty that i opted for the original off yellow comp instead, but forgot to amend the tracklist!

pps: u said u knew 95% of the tracklist. out of curiosity, which 1.2 tunes exactly hadnt u heard before?

Ye, I actually forgot that Transpotter changes the tempo. This tune is so immense!

There are two tracks I haven't heard before - the Xerox one and the Union Jack one.

Btw as far as booking go, in some countries you can still play this music in open airs but its not big at all. The new goa is more popular, still not massive, but popular.

Btw I made many goa sets too in the past, check my sig for a new goa set (the "5 mixes" part, its the 5th mix).

I have also one in classic goa style, check this link -> [[ LINK REMOVED ]]

*self promotion stops*

Cheers, and yes, make a new one!

after seeing the first few tracks i thought for sure that juno reactor would have been tossed in at some point but nope but that's alright because this is absolutely fantastic! i wish i could give you technical praise/advice but i know jack shit about mixing, let alone music theory in general but this sounds good, which is all that matters in the long run, eh? good shit!

really, mate. i mean that. keep mixing!

thanks again for ur feedback. i listened to all five of your mixes, and also to the oldschool goa one... <- the old one is the one i liked most, but obviously i'm biased. gonna post a review of the 5-part series separately.

also many thanx @ trancechan! juno reactor could well have been in there, no doubt about that. although i always considered them to be sort of coming from hard trance and off in leftfield doing their own thing, and this was meant to be more of a 'classic goa style' mix. nonetheless tunes like rotorblade or high energy protons or the massive conga fury are classics in their own right, and could have fit nicely. .... definitely for the next one, yea?

Bit late, but this mix deserves a bump. Solid track selection and mixing, brings back lots of memories. Any old schooler should like this.
