it all comes down to the converters. the NI cards have cirrus logic converters @ 96k/24bit which, I believe, is the same as the apogee.
horses for courses but I seriously doubt you could tell a difference if you A/B them, the noise floor is so low on both I think its more a matter of personal preference. never saw the big deal with the duet tbh, seems overpriced to me.
