i graduated on time, and then got this great idea to move out and become mr. independent/give the finger to my parents. so i got a dead-end job as a machine operator full-time and moved out with a few different friends, bouncing around from house to house. i paid for school by myself and went part-time. later i got trained to be a MIG welder and i've been welding ever since.
three years later, i graduated from school with an associate's degree and also got fired from my job. i thought i was going to get a job at a big GM plant in town, so i once again gave my superiors the finger- the problem is, i failed the hair follicle drug test for GM and ended up being unemployed. i moved back home for a couple months, then decided to move to milwaukee and attend school there for my bachelor's.
found a job welding within the first two days of checking out milwaukee and i've lived here ever since, working and going to school as i always have. i've been in college for 6 years but only have about 3 years of my bachelor's degree completed.
do i regret moving out right away and working? no, it taught me a lot about surviving with a limited income, saving, and stretching money when needed. i'm also glad that i never got the GM job, because as everyone knows, the plant went under this year and i'd be without a job or an education. that and i've made the most important connections in my life with people that i've met in milwaukee.
i plan on moving out of this town soon though always gotta go bigger and better i suppose.
tl;dr: i've been working full-time and going to school part-time since HS graduation, i've moved a countless amount of times and plan on doing so again.
