Also A.M.R. uses FLstudio and pure VSTi. I know him personally for about 5 years we used to collab together and remix each other's tracks all the time

EDIT: he worked on this song for over 3 years. no joke. I used to have the FLP from when he started it back in like 2004 or 2005. Just got a release i believe at the end of last year.

Robby, how many hardware synths have you actually used? And for how long? You make big generalizations, but do you have the experience to back them up?

If there's something "sonically wrong" with FLS' sound engine, an easy way to find out would be to recreate the exact same track in other DAWs and compare:

1) create a bass sound in one the VSTs mentioned above

2) create a simple MIDI track

3) export the audio using no other effects, processing, etc. and route the bass VST output directly to the master buss.

4) save the .fxp for the bass patch and export the MIDI

5) open the same synth/preset and MIDI file in another DAW(s) and repeat #3

6) compare the exported audio.

I have Sonar, Cubase, and Live - if you want to get the files together, I'll try it in these DAWs. Might be interesting to hear the results. I've got FLS8 as well, so you could send me the .flp and we can check to see if there are differences between versions, computers, etc. (of course, I wouldn't expect there to be differences, but it would only take a few minutes to check it anyway).

I think the OP is trying to compare/emulate a specific pro bass, and this is near impossible,i mean a little more or less detuning or adding harmonic to the waveforms will give the sound its own timber, try a 1% more modulation with sytrus and notice the difference it makes.
Cheers!

I'm willing to bet user skill has more to do with good bass not being able to be made in VSTi...then the VSti themselves.

Mango uses FL and VST's. Doesn't even have a MIDI controller.

Maybe you are:

1) Completely incompetent
2) Don't actually put in effort
3) Some people just aren't meant to be artistically creative... look into it.
4) Moar analog?

Listen i don't want to put you down or anything, but seriously all your threads are the same, you want people to do something for you and then send it to you. Personally the advice on this forum (search button does wonders) has transformed me from someone who couldn't even put a beat together to a level in which i feel comfortable releasing tracks and on occasion even get a playlisting in a club.

Maybe you picked the wrong hobby.

I don't quite understand this. The VSTs aren't going to magically change depending on what DAW you're using. It's most certainly possible to create (good) mid basses in FL Studio.
