yes, a sound has like 2 oscillators. But that doesn't mean the synth has 2 oscillators. If you push 2 keys at the same time you hear 2 oscs on one key and 2 oscs on the other key

unison eats away your polyphony to make sure you get more oscs by pushing one button....

not sure I said this very clear...

nowadays they often use some other method, which is more like a chorus effect.

I thought unision just doubles exactly the same suond you programmed and then you can detune the unision layers

If I were you I's detune everything....if using more than 1 osc, it always helps to produce PHAT synths

umm could be that too...I'm not really sure about the definition of unison....too damn lazy to look it up too
