i was supposed to go to this with my (now ex) girlfriend to see underworld.
as fortune would have it, we broke up; so no show - but underworld didn't even play?
what a nightmare.

Only the first two acts played (8-9:45ish), before they cut them off. Then, they brought up the lights until 12:00a, and then brought up the house lights then and started to kick everyone out.

This isn't the first time shit like this happened.
What was it like a year ago when a bunch of kids knocked down a wall at one of the Hard fests and a few hundred people got in to the sold out show?
Its the crowd that they are dealing with has a lot to do with.
I remember earlier this year when i drove up to see Deadmau5 at the apple store. All those kids fucked that up to.
As far as a refund, has any massive given money back?

That sucks.
But is it now possible that there will be a makeup date for Underworld? One that involves more experienced promoters?

I see kids rushign the gates every yearat monster massive, in mass. Always the same spot every year two. Dozens of peopel will jump and go through and they may catch one or two people because it's almost like it's organized and they all go at the right time when Security isn't paying attention to that area...
Anyhow, I see that happening and don't see MM getting shut down.
And at EDC, didn't they shut down the music in the Coliseum itself for awhile because of the crowd?
Anyhow, this is two major EDM events in LA in a row that had the fire marshall involved it looks like. It could make trouble for getting permits in the future if it keeps happening.

I am sure the organizers got some fat insurance. Not sure to what extent they got it or what you can even get on your insurance for these events (outside of insurance for full cancellations out of your control), but maybe there's something where if they are deemed to have enough security (by legal standards), etc etc etc...and that it's not necessarily from bad planning...maybe they make a claim for insurance.
I dunno.

I don't think it has anything to do with them being shady. They just bit off way more than they could chew with Underworld headlining. The combination of them, Chromeo, Tiga, Sebastian, Busy P, Steve Aoki (still makes me lol...lol) etc...it's a hipster kid's wet dream.

according to some reliable sources, they over sold the event by 3000. Thats A LOT!!! They've also had a history of thinking more about $$ then the scene itself.
