People start to change their perspective on trance because they seem to always be looking for the same thing. They want to hear only 1 style of trance, or nothing. It's more about broadening your musical tastes to other genres & sub-genres to really appreciate trance the same. Too many people stick to a certain genre/sub-genre and eventually of course you will think there's a lot of SHIT out there. This is true, that there really is A LOT of shit out there, but because of the digital age now, we can actually see it, when before we didn't have a choice, the DJ's didn't have a choice, dj's played the best and only the best, therefore you only heard the best. Everyone played on vinyl, and good luck getting shitty tracks or 10 remixes of a track on a vinyl!

But honestly, because I have a monthly show, all I need is 10-15 kick ass songs in a month, and it makes me perfectlty content with how trance is today. I think people want more good stuff too quickly, people get bored of 1 or 2 or 3 tracks after listening to them 3-4 times and feel they want something new in a matter of days. I bet if you looked through your music catalogue of everything you liked 6 months ago, you'd think there's a shit load of good stuff around, you just never took the time to really appreciate it

i have to dissagree with most of everything you just wrote. My problem is that, to me, everything DOES sound the same. Very repetitive sets/tracks over and over and overrrrrr......I am actually looking for something new, fresh and slightly diverse (without actually straying from being a trance toon).

And in terms of listening to other things....i do!! I lovee techno, tribal, and even listen to the occasional house music (SHM!!) I listen to rock, classic rock, even some old school hip hop and r&b!

btw I think trance 6 months ago sounds the exact same as today, which is half my problem with it. I feel like my nights out are like pushing rewind on a cassette tape and pushing play......very reptitive in nature

seems we are in the majority if you were to take this talk up with the people in NYC....seems everytime I go out I hear the same complaints^^.....I used to get such butterflies for trance parties, now, except for some occasional events, I would rather go to the beach, go to an outdoor cafe, grab drinks at a downtown lounge, save my money for vaca's, etc.....

blasphemy!!!!

Love it to pieces and always will. Trance productions were definitely in general much better years ago, but that doesn't mean there aren't some gems being released now. But, I stll wonder what it would have been like if I had been partying in the scene years ago when trance was really big. I honestly cannot even imagine what I would do with myself......

Quality is dead, and not just in music.

Look around you. What do you see that hasn't pissed you off at least once in the last week?

you clearly took no time to read what I wrote.

digi you may have a point.

veronica: jesus, girl you woulda bugged the f*ck out back then. haha!! I remember the days of getting butterflies for every night out, everytime I heard a wikked new track, etc.....I just truly felt an emotional connection to what was played back then (I would say, pre-2004). Now I can find 100 things I would rather be doing (this is the trend I have found myself in for the last 6mo-1year). just repetitive, bland sets not that I dont have fun, but I credit my friends for 75% of the positivity of the nights.

So true. My last Guv party for at least a year was Canada Day, it was awesome seeing you btw but I got sick of that place...outgrowing it.

Veronica, it was NUTS, just NUTS. I'd know every track in a set, EVERY one. When I didn't know we all flipped out trying to find out which remix, what white label, where I could buy/dl it. Ask Graham...(Yes he was into Trance back then too I think).

because you asscoiate things in your life with that music
Trance was probobly a soundtrack to your life at 1 point

Yes there is alot of music to pick from I think quality is out there but with so many songs it seems lower now, before there just wasnt as many people doing trance music so the quality seemed higher

When you get bored of something you need to breath new life into it.

Trance as you know it is changing just like you do as a person sometimes for the better sometimes for worse but you should stick by it

For me if it is a song I love or can't get enough of then I am not bored of it after 3-4 listens.

To me that does not make a good song.
