I think you should wear a pink button-down shirt

Safe bet is a solid charcoal or navy suit with a white or light blue shirt and a conservative tie.

Black is for weddings, funderals, and certain other extremely formal occasions. It's not a great interview color, but you can generally get away with it. With brown shoes, though? I'd certainly hesitate...

Also, brown with black is typically a fashion no-no.

Good advice. The brown on black duo looks a bit off, but I thought I'd give it a go. But I won't try that again...

I feel that the all black is a little...well, threatening. Not that I am at all a threatening person, but you want some color to show so as to make it seem you are an approachable person...people don't want to hire someone who appears like they should be avoided.

Yeah, the attire you come to the interview in won't decide the outcome, but it certainly doesn't help/hurt. Considering my degree is a general/non-concentrated one, I have to depend on my communication and appearance to carry my way through these meetings.

Probably what I'll do. You can hardly tell the difference between something from Banana Republic vs. Marshall's. Well, most clothing itmes, at least.

As for the black-on-black being a solid 'no'...I just have to ask why. I've come to agree, I won't do it, but I'm wondering what is so wrong with it. I think it presents a suave and confident aura...or at least maybe I'm just telling myself that.

As for your pink shirt idea...I'm not kidding when I say I've seen maybe 10 pink shirts on 10 different dudes in the past month alone. Pink is taking over.

Blue is my favorite color, and the one I would choose had I not thrown all of my clothing in the very back of a filled-close-to-capacity storage unit. Not on purpose obviously...kept throwing in more shit, and before I knew it, stuff I wanted to be able to get to has now become inaccessible. So now I choose...spend 2 hours reorganizing to get some shirts, or spend $20 to buy a new one to save the time..

Yeah. the brown shoes...just looking in the mirror for 5 seconds at myself with the brown on black...ugh. No good.

buy a new shirt and tie and ask the salesperson to match it for you

I used to work in a mens dresswear shop and we were trained to match things appropriately

the porsche. they say it's always good to get yourself off before an interview to releive some tension. i'm sure a drive in that thing would do the trick

It's not office attire and certainly not interview attire. If you showed up dressed like that, they will probably ask you if you just came from your job as a waiter.

And same here. Been seeing some pink lately. I'm sure it has to do with it being summer atm but I think it's cool if you can pull it off well.

the shirt and tie might not even be the right fit.

you're supposed to wear something slightly more formal than what you would wear every day in the position for which you're applying. if you'd be wearing a t-shirt & shorts, wear a polo & jeans. shirt & tie, suit. suit, your best suit, etc.

as for the colors, flashy & sloppy are the ones you want to avoid. the belt & shoes need to match in color & look (shiny + shiny, matte + matte...you get the idea). socks either need to be identical (black) or a totally different color that also matches something else (based on the rest of the outfit...mainly shirt & tie). shirt & tie should be different levels of the same color (pale blue & blue, white & grey, etc.) and a different color than the pants.

in other words, go find your storage key if you don't want to look like you cleaned up after the taking back sunday show.

amazing how many people don't do that stuff. even if you just accomplish those things, you'd be ahead.
