yeah the other Presonus rack instead of the inano and m-patch II is a little more expensive and for me my desk it doesn't have rack support (unless i made mods). So it would have to be located out of reach which defeats the purpose of having it i would think - for ease of use. Perhaps something i should invest in.
I think i will check out the TC pilot as well, this looks like a good option or, the m-patch II
its always good to ask, good job i didnt get a big knob lol
That is a great unit. SPL are very good but it aint cheap....
The level pilot looks OK but one thing that seems to be a BIG let down is no markings or stepped control of the volume. This is a big issue if trying to calibrate to pre-set levels and returning to them later. Correct me if I'm wrong on the spec....
It's also more expensive that the SM pro nano for the same connectivity (stereo in/stereo out) except it doesn't seem to have a mute button that the nano does?
I think the M patch 2 is the best unit on a budget because it has multiple outs for different monitors sets, a mono button (great for checking mixes in mono), different source switcher and an independant headphone out.
If you're going to spend more then get the SPL or central station (but that probably won't work for you as you don't want to spend that much or have a rackmount unit).

Thanks people:
my desk is average as well but it does the job, i could look at getting a new desk with rack support, as i am looking at a later date in investing in some rack units too. I don't mind spending the money thats why we work hard i think I think i need to ponder i my needs a little more before i make any final judgment, but the inano m patch II or, the presonus rack, or the TC pilot are my options so far..!
unless anyone else has a good word to spread...
very much appreciated indeedy, thanks

that depends on your workflow. but in the mixing and mastering stage i don't need to return to the same level again. i try to use a lot of different levels to have a master which sounds over a wide range of volume as consistent as possible.
and the mute button is unimportant for me as i can turn the level pilot as fast to zero as pressing a button. beside that it looks much better than the sm products.

Think you misunderstood. If you have your monitors calibrated you'll be at 100% (or 0) for mixing or mastering. You need markings or steps to at least go back to other (lower) monitor levels.
i.e. a marking somewhere to show an accurate 50% level.
I don't see a way to do that with the TC unit. I'm not knocking it - if it works for you then that's all the ever counts, just that for me, that would be a limitation of the unit.

Yeah this is what I need to clarify.
Im hoping to be able to mark on it a fixed spl level (based on white or pink, not sure which off top of head) so I know I can return to this point at any time.
