10km/h really makes no difference in those cases.

Even if the pedestrian is hit in both cases, the speed will definitely make a difference in the severity of injury...

People dumb enough to text/phone/drink and drive are also dumb enough to convince themselves that they are beyond this sort of incident because they are skillful drivers.

I know it's incredibly dangerous, but I still text & make/take calls while I'm driving to & from jobs for work. I don't have the time to pull over every couple minutes and ignoring my phone while I'm on the road costs other people time, so it's not really an option. I'm otherwise an excellent driver, but, yes, I probably have the skills of a 90-year-old woman with epilepsy while texting.

I'd be willing to bet that 80% of texts sent while driving are work-related. The other 20% belong to teenagers who jUsT goT nEW PhoNeS oMg!1!

I usually pick up my calls when I'm driving. I'd say I cut short 95% of them after 30 seconds if it's not important.

How is that the driver's fault? If you are stupid enough to not assess your environment before crossing the road then you deserve to die. Why penalise the innocent driver?

No one takes responsibility for their actions these days. Humans are getting dumbed down.

texting?

also, that doesn't improve your driving much. the reason you drive poorly is that you're concentrating on the conversation--not that you're holding something. headsets don't fix that.

[Auto-Response] You: "I'm driving. I will respond when I'm not driving."
Friendshit: "K."

If people could fucking do this, the world would be a better place.

Goddamnit, so many ways around this. Why not simply have all your texts ignored until you finish driving so that you won't be distracted and can drive safely? Why won't people chill the fuck out?

Mother******s are addicted to text these days

It's just like talking to a passenger

Edit: Still, I bet more accidents are caused by drama queens and their bad temper than by anything else.
