because it doesn't mean anything different today than it did at the time of your constitution, EXCEPT IN AMERICA.

I get a little bit tired of seeing the constant references to “liberalism” that aren’t accurate. Just because your country says liberalism means something else than what it actually does, doesn’t mean the rest of the world has to accept it.

there’s a whole school of “welfare liberalism” out there so if you want to denigrate “liberals” then at least get the label right.

Ok, but this thread isn't about any other country. The article that was posted by the OP is in regards to what is currently happening in the USA. Maybe this thread isn't for you?

This is not the source that I used in which I made my comment from though. This is something that I have gathered through much of my own reading but the Wikipedia article I posted pretty much sums up what I am implying.

i always find it hugely amusing when you try-hard libertarians cry about a "globalist socialism" conspiracy when its the individual rights inherent to capitalism that are bringing about the globalist transformation of our world. absolutely clueless.

Capitalism doesn't work in a moral vacuum and that is becoming increasingly apparent as the years go by. The nanny state beckons.

Thanks for the read. My only gripe is that this thread is not about Australian Liberalism and doesn't apply to the topic at hand, in my opinion.

Well now you've learned that Liberal Ideology is not a universal thing and you're a bit more worldly for it.

This thread really hurts my head. When did ideological gobbledy-gook replace actual ideas?

I always knew that, which is why I thought it was odd that pkcRAISTLIN came in and said what he did, with his initial response.
